Notify your microchip company as soon as possible. Report your pet as lost, confirm that your pet is registered to you and ensure that the microchip company has your current contact information in their system.
Post on Nextdoor.com, a resource that allows neighborhoods to connect with one another. It’s FREE. Learn more about how Nextdoor.com can help you get your pet home.
Post on STL Losts, to notify our larger area shelters, including some of the open admission shelters.
One of the most critical aspects of getting the word out about your lost pet is to hang flyers. It is important to remember that not everyone uses social media. But sooner or later, we all have to leave our house, and if your signs are hanging at the various intersections, people will see them.

Should I include a photo of my pet when I share my lost or found pet?

Missouri Lost & Found Paws always recommends including a photo because it generates engagement! This means, people react to photos as opposed to posts which do not have a photo attached. When you include a photo, it creates a connection for people. The eyes, the cuteness, the sadness of the situation…it all matters! That means, people will have a greater tendency to share information about your lost pet.

We recommend using a CLEAR full body photo of your pet smiling as it will be sure to engage interest / shares.

Please avoid using photos that include your children.

Missouri Lost & Found Paws is a trusted petfinder service that is committed to keeping our communities safe.
